Hi FTM! This is very mutual in 7 month olds. They are exploring using their hands as well as the sensation of bear on. They will stroke, motion picture or pet dissimilar surfaces to learn and explore. Y'all'll be seeing many new behaviors effectually this historic period as they begin to actually look outward at the globe and interact with information technology. You'll see this exploration in new facial expressions and new body movements. At age 9 months, you will take another well child examination. Your pediatrician volition await for some of these new moments as signs of normal development in addition to asking questions almost feeding, sleep, social interaction and growth. Savor!

Hi! My daughter just turned one twelvemonth sometime. She's been (in my mind) a little behind physically, but learning to crawl (though she scooted at 11 months and rolled everywhere she wanted to go before that). She can stand up hanging on to something, just not pull herself up. For a while at present, she has waved her arms pretty constantly. My mom mentioned something today and said that information technology could be connected to autism, and as I looked upward arm waving, it looks as though information technology is paw flapping. Are these things consequent with an autism diagnosis? What should I be looking for? Of course, I volition be going to her one twelvemonth appointment in the coming weeks, but it would be helpful to know what to await for and if I should look for other symptoms.

Hullo Dorothy! The important thing to remember is that children with Autism Spectrum Disorder have several changes that involve more just mitt flapping. Alone, manus flapping, arm waving, hand twirling, etc don't diagnose much. Your pediatrician volition get an overall big picture during your 12 month exam. There you will discuss her social development, her emotional development, her fine motor, gross motor and intellectual development. Only all together tin nosotros make up one's mind if a kid is showing signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder. I remember you lot are smart to notice a slight filibuster in her gross motor skills, then I would mention that as a starting betoken for your conversation. Good luck and make sure to keep that appointment! Particularly at present, nosotros desire to proceed our babies on rail for proficient wellness!

We already had his 9 month engagement and my pediatrician didn't seem concerned but I have been looking things up online and I am starting to freak myself out wondering if he is autistic. Any feedback is much appreciated!

Hi there,
How are y'all? I was wondering if you lot received an answer on this topic. I was reading that flapping or arm-waving alone is non enough to diagnose a child for autism. Is this the only matter your baby does that concerns you?
